Luxology modo Available for Intel-based Macs
Significant Speed and Performance Increase on all Apple Computers
Powered by Intel Core Duo Processors; Free for Current modo Customers
San Mateo, Calif.- March 22, 2006 - Luxology, LLC,
the creators of modo, a leading subdivision surface and polygonal
3D modeling platform, today announced the immediate availability of
a “universal binary” version of modo for Intel-based Macintosh
computers. Used by Apple to conduct iMac performance benchmarks, modo’s
universal binary version boasts more than twice the speed when running
on iMacs that use Intel Core Duo technology, and performs up to five
times faster than previous top-of-the-line PowerBooks when testing
the rendering speed of the modo 201 beta version. Available now from
Luxology’s website at www.modo3d.com, the universal binary version
is free for registered modo users.
“modo’s uniquely clean architecture made it possible
for us to be one of the first graphics applications to take advantage
of the Intel Core Duo technology,” said Brad Peebler, president
of Luxology. “While the current modo universal binary version
will result in much faster performance on the Intel-based Macs, the
new rendering features in modo 201 will run up to five times faster
on the new systems.” (Luxology is scheduled to ship modo 201
in April 2006).
Apple utilized a universal binary version of modo 201 as a benchmarking
tool to demonstrate the power and speed users will realize with this
new hardware platform. In general, an Intel Core Duo 2.0 GHz iMac
renders up to 2.6 times as fast as an iMac G5 with 2.1 GHz. MacBook
Pro registered up to 4.1 times faster using a beta version of modo
201.
