Video 01 - Preparing, Importing and Texturing
(Total Run Time: 15m 54s)
This video
is the first part of a series of videos on the new 3D capabilities of
Photoshop CS3® Extended. It demonstrates how you can take models
from a 3D application and easily incorporate them into a piece of
artwork.
Key tips
are provided on how to prepare 3D models for import into CS3 using a
standard 3D application (modo is used in this tutorial but the
techniques are transferable to other products such as 3ds Max or
Maya).
During the
video we take a standard 3D model and use a variety of techniques to
make an OBJ format file that is CS3 compliant, paying special
attention to how surfaces are handled in CS3. Then we import the
model as a 3D Layer in Photoshop, introduce some of CS3 Extended’s
3D tools, edit an image map applied to the 3D object in CS3 and use a
variety of common Photoshop techniques to create a piece of enhanced
2D illustration artwork. A sample 3D file with UV’s and its
associated textures are included, as well as final artwork. |
